Why You Should Always Choose A Board-Certified Cosmetic Dermatologist

The aesthetic dermatology market is growing larger year after year, with more and more people wanting cosmetic procedures. With this rise in popularity also comes a rise in people looking for discounts and deals, which has lead to in increase in both inauthentic cosmetic “doctors” and counterfeit “botox” and fillers on the market.

These products can come from various places – they can come from outside the country, where they aren’t as tightly regulated, or they could be made in someone’s garage! As Dr. Jegasothy tells Jolene Edgar in the February issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine, due to lack of quality and safety control with these products, 1 in 4 bargain hunters suffers some kind of complication, whether it be infection, irritation, actual long-term swelling or large nodules, or something more.

How can you reduce your chances of receiving these products and possibly having a complication? Always see a board-certified aesthetic dermatologist such as Dr. Jegasothy. They have the knowledge of skin anatomy and the authentic products necessary to minimize these risks. Going somewhere else, such as a not properly supervised med-spa, could result in having an inexperienced injector inject the product into your face. Even worse, they could be engaging in unscrupulous practices, such as splitting filler between patients. “Recapped filler could separate over time, which could possibly cause lumps at the injection site,” Dr. Jegasothy says.

A board-certified doctor may not offer the deals that a med-spa would, but they have the rigorous training and high standards that come from years of schooling. The long-term peace of mind of placing your trust in their hands should more than make up for any short term savings.

New Year, New Body, New You, Nonsurgically!

Walking into a doctor's office, getting body work done, and walking out without a scar or overnight stay may sound like a scene from a futuristic sci-fi movie, but it's actually a reality now!

More and more doctors are offering non-surgical body work with lasers, and Dr. Jegasothy has been at the forefront of this wave. Loren Savini with Allure sought Dr. Jegasothy's expertise and asked which laser she liked. One of them is the Ulthera®, an ultrasound laser. Dr. Jegasothy says, "Typically, it’s used on the area under the chin to lift the neck and jawline, (think double chin reduction), but I've found that devices like Ulthera can give patients a 10 to 20 percent butt or breast lift, with no downtime or scarring, in 20 minutes." That's not all it can do. With protocols that Dr. Jegasothy herself has developed, she can perform nonsurgical arm lifts, thigh lifts, and even face lifts!

If you've been wanting to have some body work done, but have been wary of going under the knife, give us a call at 305-569-0067 and schedule a consultation. The future, and the future you, is even closer than you think.

You Are NOT The Only One Struggling With Skin Problems!

Growing up, you pretty much idolized celebrities. From their perfect skin, luscious hair, fast cars, stunning houses, you wish you could trade places with them, right? It is not until later in life that you realize, maybe celebrities are just like you, in more ways than you could have imagined?

Take for example one of our favorites, Chrissy Teigen. Pretty much every woman loves her outspoken personality and cannot wait to see what she will tweet about next that will make the Twitter world shiver. Not long ago, Chrissy took to Twitter and spoke about every woman’s worst time of the month. Not only do you get horrible cramps but acne comes along and absolutely ruins your life. Thankfully, Dr. Jegasothy has the information you need on how to treat your menstrual acne.

She states that during your cycle, it is common to suffer from hormonal acne. Even post menopausal women are vulnerable, due to the fact that these women still undergo cyclical changes in their progesterone and estrogen levels.

For frustrating skin during your cycle, Dr. Jegasothy recommends using exfoliating cleansers which contain either salicylic or glycolic acid. Retinoids that avert clogged pores as well as birth control pills can be great for regulating your hormone levels.

Is Your Skin Getting Dull During The Winter Months?

If you have ever experienced dry skin you know how uncomfortable it can be, especially during the winter months. What if we were to tell you the secret to beautiful skin during the winter lies in a special type of moisturizer: night cream!

What's so special about night cream? Shouldn't your moisturizer do the job during the winter months? In this Verily Mag article by Charisse Kenion, Dr. Jegasothy gives the real reason why night cream is so important for your skin care routine.

Dr. Jegasothy states that indoor heating during winter may cause your skin to dehydrate. Since an easy skin care routine is a must for busy women on-the-go, Dr. Jegasothy mentions two different types of cream you could use that will easily help you keep your skin hydrated. The first group, she states, is very rich and seizes tremendous atmospheric moisture as well as holds in the skin's natural moisture. The second group contains an abundance of rich ingredients and incorporates strong skin care smoothing molecules such as Retinol.
